Access Info & Special Needs

Below is all the information on ‘Access/Accessibility’ access to the venues we utilise.

Accessibility tickets are not required for The Academy or The Ambassador Theatre as they are not seated venues

Note for diabetics:
3Olympia Theatre and The Academy have medical rooms where insulin can be injected in privacy. Please ask any member of security to put you in contact with the medic on duty.

Contact Us
MCD would like to hear for anyone who has suggestions or comments on how we can improve our facilities for people with special needs. Please send your email to [email protected] and let us know whether you would rather be contacted by phone or email.

Please make the subject of the email ‘Accessibility’ to allow us to process your correspondance more efficiently.

Wheelchair platform:
There will be a wheelchair platform in Marlay – as you enter the main arena you can take the path behind the sound tower and then you will see the wheelchair platform to your left

Access/Accessibility:

Please send your email to [email protected] and let us know. Please make the subject of the email ‘Accessibility’ followed by your show name and date to allow us to process your correspondence more efficiently.

First Aid Posts:
These will be situated on either side of the stage and opposite the main arena entrance. All first aid posts will be signed. If you are on the wheelchair platform and are in need of first aid please ask the stewards to call the medics for you.

Diabetics:
First Aid Posts will make private space available for diabetics needing to inject insulin. Needles should be declared to security at entrance gates.

Access/Accessibility Parking:
Disabled parking is in the carpark at Marlay House – this is off the Grange Rd and is signposted

We want everyone to be able to enjoy our events, participate, feel safe, as well as being part of the crowd. The following section aims to help you make an informed decision about attending. All disabled customers are welcomed at MCD shows, but note that this event takes place on a sloping greenfield site. Parts of this site may have undulating sections of terrain, meaning that sometimes access is not that easy. Stewards however, will be at hand to assist.

Wheelchair user’s facilities:
There will be a purpose-built raised wheelchair platform on the side of the hill beneath the castle. Platform access ramps will have a gradient to lend itself to improved ease of access. All platforms have loose seating for carers. Pease bear in mind that priority in this area is given to wheelchair users and should the area become extremely busy carers may be required to move back to make room for additional wheelchairs. In the summer months, our outdoor show platforms are not covered. Please Note that space in this area is limited and we operate a strict 1+ 1 policy for access to this area. Please contact us well in advance to allow us to plan for your arrival.

There maybe use of laser and strobe lights at the event. Those persons affected by lighting should ensure they have sufficient time to leave the viewing platform/crowd before effects begin. Please bear in mind the audience may be very large and movement through the crowd slow. Please note wheelchair users maybe requested to wait on the platform at the end of the show till the main crowd has left the site. This is for everyone’s health, safety and security.

Additional Accessibility Facilities

We can issue you a pass to the disabled car park for wheelchair/special needs ticket holders. The special needs car parking is the closest car park to the site – though please bear in mind that everywhere at Slane is a long walk! Please note special needs car passes will not be issued until approx. 2 weeks prior to the event. Ticketmaster will advise us of contact details for all wheelchair/accessibility ticket holders and these will automatically be offered an option of availing of accessibility parking. Please be advised that there will be a delay in exiting the car park after the show as An Garda Siochana give priority to pedestrians on the roads around the venue for a period after the show.

If you have not purchased a accessibility/wheelchair ticket but still feel you might be entitled to special needs parking, please email [email protected] with relevant official documentation supporting you request and a member of staff will contact you accordingly.

Toilet facilities for wheelchair/accessibility users
Where possible, a disabled toilet should be located nearby the wheelchair platform and the special needs seated area and its use restricted to disabled patrons please note this will be strictly regulated.
