Badhands is the musical project of Dublin songwriter and musician Dan Fitzpatrick.
Having previously played for years with artists such as The Mighty Stef, The Last Tycoons, Paddy Hanna and Maud in Cahoots, he recently released his critically acclaimed debut album 'Predictable Boy'. The album features musicians Tom Cosgrave, Aoife Ruth, Chris Barry and Ken Mooney, and upon release it received much praise from critics, earning comparisons to the likes of Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Tom Waits and Lee Hazelwood.
The band's first two singles, 'Waves' and 'Monday Morning', have both received considerable airplay on national radio and have been performed live in session on shows such as Arena on RTE Radio 1.
Predictable Boy was the product of 2 years work, the end result of which is a collection of vivid, textured songs that range in tone between dark and brooding to frantic and energetic, with moments of genuine euphoria weaved in to the mix. The record is beautifully intimate but also has an accessibility that will quickly capture the imagination of the listener. The band's next single off the album, entitled 'Voices', is set for release Today on February 5th. The song describes a series of dark and abstract hallucinations, with the ethereal and frenetic nature of the music giving life to the dreamlike apparitions recounted in the lyrics.
The band have been playing gigs consistently over the last year, including two packed headline shows at the Workmans Club, supports slots with acts such as Michael McDonald, and shows in many venues around the country. April 13th will see the band play it's first headline show of 2019 in Whelans, Dublin, along with several other Irish dates to be announced soon. The shows will feature songs off Predictable Boy and also some new material, with work having recently begun on album number 2.
