MAVIS STAPLES CONFIRMED FOR OLYMPIA THEATRE FOR ONE SHOW ONLY
TICKETS ON SALE NOW
Grammy award-winning soul legend Mavis Staples has confirmed a date at The Olympia Theatre on 23rd June 2019.
Mavis Staples will doubtlessly go down in history as one of the greatest gospel singers of all time, the breathtaking voice powering one of America's great family bands, The Staple Singers.
From the traditional gospel music of the 1950s to the 1960s protest songs that underscored some of the decade's most dramatic social changes, from the self-empowerment anthems of the 1970s to the soulful love tunes and mature Americana of more recent years, Staples and her family have consistently created some of the best and most inspirational music of the past half-century.
During her solo career Staples has worked with a range of artists, from Prince to Natalie Merchant, and most recently, Hozier.
Daily Mail - “Mavis Staples and Ben Harper combine for great music”
Afterword - "an almost flawless summation of Mavis Staple’s entire career"
Red Guitar Music - “A fine album from an artist who’s still looking to make a difference through her music”
Soul and Jazz and Funk - "Mavis Staples has made many fine solo albums over the years but this one is arguably her best yet: it's powerful yet sensitive, nakedly honest yet uplifting and hopeful. In these benighted times, it shines like a much-needed beacon of light.” – 5 out of 5
Sound Blab - “She is a national treasure and this album is as good a place as any to begin to investigate her catalog” – 8 out of 10
XS Noize - "We Get By is a call to action. An album of anthems designed to inspire brotherhood, joy and hope, and prove to the world that even after nearly seventy years of performing, Mavis Staples can continue to evolve and better herself as an artist." - 9 out of 10
