After selling out Dublin’s Smock Alley last November, Dublin singer-songwriter Saibh Skelly has announced her biggest headline show so far upstairs in Whelan’s on Saturday 22nd April 2023.

Tickets €12.00 including booking fees on sale Thursday 19thJanuary at 10AM

At 15 she decided to go busking in Dublin city centre for the first time. She pocketed €70 on her first day and steadily built-up confidence in her playing and singing. In 2019, Saibh started to upload her busking sessions to YouTube, starting with her cover of Billie Eilish’s ‘When The Party’s Over’. However, it wasn’t until later that year and the investment in a video camera, that she noticed something interesting was happening. Her home recording videos were gaining popularity.

The pandemic took buskers off the streets. Saibh’s online popularity really started to take-off during lockdown as new fans - old, young and worldwide - warmed to her warm, unassuming personality and her unfeigned enthusiasm for the modern pop songbook; covering everyone from Anne-Marie to Lewis Capaldi. 10,000 subscribers quickly became 50,000 fans.

For her recording debut, Saibh has picked a selection of songs that helped her get through lockdown. She is a huge fan of the new wave of young American songwriters like Clinton Kane, Jeremy Zucker and Conan Gray. "I'm a happy person who likes sad music" adds Saibh, by way of explanation. First taste lead-off single ‘Come Here And Leave Me Alone’ was composed by another of this cohort: Alexander Glantz aka Alexander 23. The track was produced in Dublin by Cormac Butler, best known for his work with True Tides and The Academy, and mixed by Peter Ashmore (Wyvern Lingo, David Keenan).

2022 saw Saibh release a string of singles and her debut project Undercover Heartbreak, which includes the single ‘When You Love Someone’ which has racked up almost a million streams Saibh Skelly has recently completed her first Irish tour, supporting label-mate Lyra. Skellycontinues to grow her online audience, with 88k followers on Instagram, 6 million views on her YouTube channel and 3.5 million views on TikTok.
