Native Dublin singer-songwriter Sammy Copley is delighted to announce his biggest headline show to date in The Academy 2 on the 17th September 2022.
Adept at storytelling through his song writing, and well-versed in weaving intricate details throughout, Copley has earned himself a huge following online since he began sharing his talents on YouTube at just 14. Self-releasing his debut album Growing Pains at the beginning of 2021 saw him double-down on his craft creating an intimate body of work inspired by the advice his friends would have given to their younger selves.
In April, Copley released his latest single ‘To The Bone, which told the story of an old, married couple trying to find the words to articulate their love. Even prior to the song’s official release, it had found a loving audience of millions across Tik Tok, with over 1 million views and over 500k likes across a number of videos.
Using his art as a means to process everything from love through loss to all those messy feelings that are associated with growing up, “To The Bone” is the follow up to last year’s “Marsha” was his first foray into writing explicitly about his queer identity; “a journey so personal that it felt particularly hard to capture in song... [it’s] a song that explores the tumultuous mixture of anger and gratitude that comes from honouring the legacy of the trans women of colour that paved the way for LGBTQ+ rights without ever being afforded them themselves.”
