The Academic Announce Headline Dublin Show
Friday 3rd December 2021
Tickets from €30 Incl. booking fee
Irish purveyors of hook-heavy indie-rock scorchers The Academic are excited to announce their first Dublin show in almost 3 years at Dublin’s 3Olympia Theatre on Friday, December 3rd 2021
Following the incredible reception the band received at their recent main stage performance at Reading & Leeds festival, their first live show with an audience since lockdown, the band are excited to be back on homeground and playing full capacity shows again.
Lead singer Craig Fitzgerald says “Just before lockdown we hardly had a free date in the diary. All of a sudden everything just came to a halt and we had to hit pause on all our global touring commitments. This headline show at The 3Olympia is going to be really special, not to mention it will be our first time to play at such an iconic venue.
The Choice nominated and platinum-selling band released 2 EP’s over lockdown the ‘Acting My Age’ EP and more recently ‘Community Spirit’.
The self-produced Community Spirit EP sees the Westmeath 4-piece honing their knack for epitomising the excitement and apprehension that one meets at the intersect between youth and adulthood, without a hint of cynicism or pretence. These are sky-scraping, heart-on-the-sleeve anthems, accented with guitar hooks which immediately take up residency in the head of anyone who listens.
Despite their young years, Craig, Dean, Matthew & Stephen have already acquired a following and a CV that many bands would relish from a lifetime of work. Sharing stages with Pixies, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and The Rolling Stones (upon Sir Jagger’s personal request), as well as a debut album that reached #1 chart in the Irish charts, firmly cements The Academic in an enviable position amongst their peers in the category of UK and Irish bands on the path to superstardom.
