GLAIVE RELEASES NEW ALBUM ‘MAY IT NEVER FALTER’

LISTEN TO LEAD SINGLE ‘EVERY DOG HAS ITS DAY’

“a true talent looming in a scene that isn’t anti-pop so much as meta-pop, chaotic and a little indifferent” - New York Times

“turns out, bonkers computer bedroom pop can feel electric in real life, too.”  - GQ

“one of the most promising new artists to emerge from the internet underground.”  - The Fader

Emerging as one of the most compelling voices of his generation, North Carolina-born artist glaive is back with his sophomore album, May It Never Falter, a genre-defying body of work that marks the beginning of an independent chapter in his artistry.

The album serves as a coming-of-age narrative set against the backdrop of adolescence and self-discovery. At just 19 years old, glaive continues to display a swaggering confidence and artistic depth, further expanding his palette, vaulting over genres, while his laidback delivery remains. As his music evolves, so does his ability to craft songs that take form from a rare wisdom that usually only comes with age.

The album's focal track, ‘Every Dog Has Its Day’, is a high-energy anthem that showcases thudding basslines and intricate production, capturing a pivotal moment in the album’s sonic journey. Fans have already been speculating about the direction of this record, and glaive is ready to show the world exactly where he's headed.

After teasing fans last week with the early release of ‘Live & Direct’ featuring kurtains, glaive revealed a bold departure from his earlier pop-driven sound, leaning into raw, guitar-driven melodies and a bass-heavy sound that echoes the raw energy of classic rock. The track opens with a nostalgic riff before transitioning into glaive’s signature blend of introspective lyricism, soft verses, acoustic flourishes, a fresh yet unmistakable imprint on his evolving sound.

This shift is just a glimpse into glaive’s ability to reinterpret classic pop motifs through his unique, unconventional lens, blending alt, indie, pop, and electronic influences to craft something entirely his own. His latest effort follows a slew of successful projects from earlier this year, including the emotionally charged singles ‘just not sure’ and ‘tijuana freestyle’, as well as his critically praised a bit of a mad one EP.

May It Never Falter was recorded in the remote landscapes of Iceland and Wales, continuing the Sigur Rós-inspired approach to isolated, immersive recording environments that began with his debut album i care so much i don’t care at all (2023), which he recorded in Alaska. Working closely with a tight-knit team of collaborators, glaive was able to channel the unique energy of these environments into his music, creating a project that feels both expansive and deeply personal.

As glaive steps into this new phase of his career, May It Never Falter serves as a reflection of his formative years and stands as a testament to his versatility and artistic evolution. Fans and critics alike should expect to hear more bold, forward-thinking music from this teenage multi-hyphenate in the years to come.

ABOUT GLAIVE

There’s a unique new generation reshaping music, exposing unexplored links between different strains and sub-genres, and standing at the forefront of this new wave of talent is glaive, a name taken from the video game Dark Souls III. The singer, just 19 years old, possesses an intuitive style of songwriting which opens out to a trove of raw emotion.

Each of his tracks possesses its own personality, offering listeners a glimpse into the nexus between his own maverick life and our shared human experience. His rise to stardom began during the pandemic when he was 15, collaborating with like-minded artists online – joining the dots between the avant-garde in electronic music, nascent microgenres within pop, and the timeless sounds of punk, alt-rock, dream pop and indie folk, to name a few – crafting himself a truly fluid musical identity.

From his beginnings in Hendersonville, North Carolina (population 15k), to opening for The Kid LAROI on The First Time tour this year, glaive has become a name synonymous with a scene that redefines pop, not by distancing itself from tradition but by forging a new, innovative style. His previous works, including cypress grove, all dogs go to heaven, and then i’ll be happy, have all cemented him as a standout artist, lauded by the likes of The New York Times, Vulture, GQ and The FADER.

Continuing on his mission to bring audiences into his off-centre miniverse of candid testimonials, dulcet beats and all-out performances, fans can look forward to more surprises as glaive prepares for another monumental year in his career, filled with new releases, live performances, and more.
