Lil Skag, from Enniscorthy County Wexford, has quickly carved a niche for himself on the Irish rap scene. Taking influence from contemporary trap and drill, Skag infuses his music with bold irreverence, provocative cultural references, and a sense of storytelling and wit that feels uniquely and authentically Irish (or rather, Wexfordish). 

Skag first made a name for himself with his debut single Cunning Linguist in April 2023. The track gained momentum after District Magazine posted a clip of Kojaque reacting to it on a live video. His bravado and scorching wordplay have kept this momentum going ever since. Skag dropped his debut EP, Y21, in February 2024. That summer, he toured Ireland with frequent collaborator Sloucho, making appearances at All Together Now, Electric Picnic, and a Boiler Room set at AVA in Belfast which you can view here. 

Since moving to London in September, he’s played all across the city but has still found the time to return home to perform in Galway, Cork, Limerick and Wexford. 
A frequent collaborator and support act for Choice Prize nominee, Curtisy, Skag has also worked with Ahmed with Love, Rory Sweeney, Alex Gough, GAPTOOF, and the UK’s MC Kibo. 

On stage, his performances match the personality and confidence you hear in his music. Skag knows his audience; knowing when to keep the energy high, when to crack a joke, when to tell a story, and when to show his genuine appreciation for the people who’ve turned out to see him. Most importantly, he knows how to hit every bar as hard as he hits it on the record. Part of Whelans’ annual ‘ Ones to watch ‘ series, Lil Skag is proving to be just that.
