The Saw Doctors have just finished a four month ‘comeback’ tour that included sold-out shows in Belfast at Custom House Square, Manchester at Castlefield Bowl and Glasgow at Kelvingrove Park with pit stops along the way in Munich, Cologne, Brussels, Amsterdam, Boston and Chicago before two hometown gigs at the Galway Arts Festival Big Top in July.

Discovered by Mike Scott of The Waterboys on a stormy Tuesday night in the Quay’s Bar, Galway in the late 1980s, The Saw Doctors quickly grew a reputation as a live band, touring around Ireland and the UK, including a six-week stint with The Waterboys on the Fisherman’s Blues tour in 1989. The Saw Doctors second single, ‘I Useta Lover’ was a surprise hit in Ireland in 1990, remaining top of the charts for nine weeks, going on to become the biggest selling Irish single ever. The Galway band’s debut album ‘If This Is Rock ’n’ Roll, I Want My Old Job Back which includes the anthemic song ’N17’ has sold a half a million copies world-wide.

The Saw Doctors who are powered by the band’s songwriting duo, Davy Carton (lead vocals) and Leo Moran (electric guitar), recently welcomed back one of their founding band members Pearse Doherty on bass guitar, vocals, penny whistle and wooden flute. The eight man lineup features longtime members Rickie O’Neill (drums), Kieran Duddy (keyboards and accordion) and Tommy Carton (backing vocals) as well as acclaimed sidemen, Anthony Thistlethwaite (saxophone, formerly of The Waterboys) and Noelie McDonnell (guitar and backing vocals of The Whileaways)

Carrying the torch of resilience and still brimming with infectious energy, The Saw Doctors are looking forward to rocking their two exclusive Irish shows next summer: Virgin Media Park Cork on Saturday 14th June and Fairview Park Dublin on Saturday 28th June.

“If they could bottle the sort of Bonhomie that make and entire concert hall feel better, The Saw Doctors would have the medicine show to end them all.”
